Two Prisoners

Mr Ring is a phenomenal poet, he Wows me regularly. If you’re not familiar with him, do go over and pay him a visit–and please leave your comments on his original post. Thank you!

The Light is On

He who lives in fear gives way to shadows
Certain of the doom laid out for him by the stars
A patchwork tapestry of fraying ends and holes torn away
The words once whispered to him in the deep of night
Are now a prophecy that will never be fulfilled
But he wove them together anyway
And hung them over the mantle for all to see

She, the starlit one, made matchsticks out of needle bones
And tried to light the walls on fire
But only created little holes that revealed the world
In patchwork glimpses of distant hills changing with the seasons
This prison built around her in the deep of night
Holds a spool of thread as large as her life
And she longs only for a loom on which to weave it into a tapestry
